MULLION 0
FALMOUTH TOWN 3
MULLION'S inability to field a settled side is having its effect on results and at Clifden Park on Saturday they went down to a 3-0 defeat to Falmouth Town in the Jolly's Combination League.
Town had the lion's share of possession in the first half and should have been well ahead before Luke Wort finally put them in front in the 20th minute when he ran on to Ashley Thomas's pass and went round goalkeeper Rob Rosevear to score.
Mullion worked hard in midfield to keep Town at bay and it wasn't until just before half time that the visitors added a second goal when Dave Rogers found Thomas in plenty of space and after taking the ball on rifled his shot past Rosevear from 20 yards.
Mullion, despite being on the back foot, were always a threat on the counter attack with David Cheetham prompting well in midfield, but they never made the most of their opportunities and were handicapped when both Darren Meagor and Gareth Mason had to be substituted through injury.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Wort and Kayne Trevaskis both having one-on-one chances denied them by superb goalkeeping from Rosevear.
The final goal came in the 68th minute when Rogers made a determined run and gave the 'keeper no chance with a fine finish.
It still needed a fine save from Chris Lawrence by 16-year-old Rob Thorpe to keep a clean sheet, but overall it was not a team performance for Mullion to remember.
Making his debut for Mullion was former RNAS Culdrose, Porthleven and Helston player Mark Conniff.
