SIAN Lugg generously gave a host of superb prizes at her Lady Captain's Day at Praa Sands Golf Club on Saturday.

In the 18-hole Stableford, Lou Archer was the winner with 34 points closely followed by Di Lyons in second place with 33 and Caroline Worrell in third place with 32. Other prizes included: Best front nine, Chris Tonkin; best back nine, Caroline Hardman; longest drive, Caroline Worrell; nearest the pin, Elizabeth Murrish; hidden holes, Anna Harry; Ann Seabrook and Barbara Wilkins.

Dave Ladner (24 h/cap) won the Battle of Britain Trophy on Sunday morning with nett 58. Tony Semmens (17) was second with 62, Paul Murrish (15) third with 63, Tony Boyce (21) fourth with 64, and David Phillips (19) fifth with 65 on the last nine from John Murrish(13) and Richard Dunn (13).

Midweek Stableford: 1, Richard Dunn 38; 2, Tony Semmens 36; 3, Chris Dunn 35.

Friday Fun competition: 1, Ann Seabrook, Tony Hosking and Roger Quick; 2, Kate and David Phillips; 3, Ray Crebo and Francis Vickerstaffe.

Vice-captain Simon Phillips won the play-off against Roy Hillyar for the Captain's Trophy in a very close match.

Elizabeth Murrish won the Ladies' Wednesday nine-hole Stableford with 18 points with Di Lyons second with 16 points and Barbara Wilkins third with 15 points. Elizabeth also won the putting competition on countback from Di.

The ladies play for the LGU pendant and their monthly medal on Saturday afternoon and the men play for the Rider Cup and their monthly medal on Sunday morning. Next week, the midweekly Stableford and Friday Fun Night competitions continue, the ladies play a nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning and the Ogres meet on Wednesday afternoon.
