Cornwall will be high on the political agenda at this year's Labour Party conference thanks to a fringe event, devoted solely to Cornwall issues and jointly hosted by Glyn Ford MEP and Jude Robinson, Labour's prospective parliamentary candidate in Camborne and Redruth.
Ben Bradshaw MP who has responsibility for the South West alongside his Ministerial role in the Department of Health will be speaking and listening to delegates and visitors from Cornwall.
The event is part of the ongoing development of Labour's vision for Cornwall, which was launched at the European Forum and Campaign meeting held at Cornwall College in July.
Ms Robinson said: "It is unusual to hold a fringe meeting on one county but Cornwall needs a champion in government and we will make sure that our issues are discussed at the heart of government. Losing our Labour MP in 2005 has stalled progress and we intend to kick start it again, so that local people are at the heart of decisions on the future of Cornwall."
Mr Ford said: "Cornwall is the poorest county in the UK and while the EU has given hundreds of millions of pounds of matched funding for regeneration projects the purpose of this meeting is to set a new Labour agenda that will enable the Government to enhance Cornwall's future."
The meeting will be held at the Royal Exeter Hotel, Bournemouth on September 24.
