The Eden Project is inviting visitors of all ages and sizes to get their hands dirty and help get ready for its spring celebration of Bulb Mania.

The event is believed to be the UK's biggest annually-planted show of spring flowers and although a few months away, the hard work starts now and continues until September 28. During that time over 35,000 bulbs will be potted to sit alongside the million that are planted in the ground.

The dome tent at the heart of the Eden site has been transformed into a mass planting area with a huge compost tray and thousands of bulbs waiting to be firmly ensconced in their pots.

During the past two years nearly 8,000 visitors have planted bulbs, helping to make Bulb Mania a huge success and Eden's horticulture team are hoping for the same result this year.

Each person who gets involved will receive, as a thank you three Tulipa Ballerina', the UK's Flower Bulb of the Year 07, donated by Eden's partners the International Flower Bulb Centre.

All visitors will be asked to make a wish for spring when they plant their bulbs, and at the end of the three weeks, one wish will be pulled out of a hat and the winner will receive a full set of Eden-branded bulbs.

In the tent each day there will be a five-person workshop team on hand to help and advise visitors and also a member of the horticulture team at Eden, giving visitors a rare chance to talk to the gardeners who work in the outdoor landscape.

Tracey Smith, Eden's commercial relationship coordinator, said: "It's really great when visitors have the chance to make an impact on Eden. Visiting and helping to plant these bulbs gives a real sense of participation in the project - and of course they can come again in the spring and see their involvement in the fantastic displays of Bulb Mania."
