BURRAS: BURHOS YOUTH CLUB: The club began its winter sessions on Friday, with Cynthia Richards and Karen Hamilton. Any children year six or above are welcome every fortnight.

BURHOS METHODIST CHAPEL: The morning service was conducted by Shirley Wearne. Jenny Stephens and Mrs Wearne did a dramatised reading. The offering was taken up by Victoria, Alex and Jake. The organist was Janet Hearn. Get well wishes were sent to Donald Hearn following his knee operation.

TREWENNACK: METHODIST CHURCH: On Saturday afternoon members of the church family welcomed friends from Breaney Chapel for a session of football matches at Wendron School. Chris Smith was the referee for both the children's and the adult matches. The official result was that honours were even all round. The scores were less important than the fun and fellowship enjoyed by those taking part and the spectators.

Sunday morning service was conducted by Paul Brown, who spoke about Jeremiah's spiritual battle. The Old Testament lesson from Jeremiah, chapter 18, v 1-10 and chapter 20, v 7-13 was read by Chris Campbell. Mr Brown read the New Testament lesson from 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, v 16-18 and was joined by his wife Shirley to sing the duet entitled No-one understands like Jesus. Margaret Eva was the organist and Val Thorne was the pianist for community singing before the service, which was led by Mark Rapson.

On Sunday is the harvest festival, with the Rev Aubin De Gruchy from Truro School as the preacher at 11am. The harvest supper will be on Tuesday evening at 7pm.

CHYNHALE: Chapel: Harvest festival was celebrated this weekend when the Sunday morning service was conducted by the Reverend Stephen Bales and the organist was John Gilbert. The theme of the service was "sowing the seed". A good number of people were warmly welcomed to the service by William Dale and the vestry steward was Kevin Moseley. The chapel was beautifully decorated by the ladies.

In the evening community hymn singing took place under the direction of John Gilbert, organist and Martin Matthews and this was followed by a wonderful concert given by Four Lanes male voice choir under their musical director, Alastair Taylor and accompanist Michael Uren. Soloists were Jeff Vaughan, Ken Andrew and Eldred Pearce. The concert was ably chaired by Martin Matthews. This was followed by a faith supper provided by the ladies of the church and the whole evening was very much enjoyed by all.

On Monday a Cornish harvest supper was served and this was followed by the sale of produce by Alfred Hocking. Many thanks to all who supported and helped during the weekend.

PORKELLIS: TRINITY METHODIST CHURCH: The family service on Sunday was led by Mike Trounson. The children and congregation were very much involved. He had lots of visual aids and plenty of sweets as rewards and it was lovely to have some visitors present.

David received the offering and Elizabeth Tremayne played the organ. Peggy Jenkin gave the lovely display of roses.

On Wednesday the ladies fellowship had their first meeting after the summer break with a talk and demonstration on ShelterBox. There was a collection taken and £125 was given to the cause. The monthly meal will be on Wednesday.
