Ambitious development plans to create multi-million pound football facilities in Truro have been refused by councillors.
The proposed £6 million development that had been planned by Truro City Football Club for the outskirts of the city, at Kenwyn, were thrown out at a meeting last night.
The club had hoped to create state-of-the-art facilities including five new pitches and a sports hall on land at Pencoose Farm.
However, at last night's meeting of the referral committee at Carrick district council, members voted to refuse permission for the application.
By doing so members reversed a decision made by in June, in which the planning committee went against the advice of officers and gave initial go-ahead for the build.
The plans have always been seeped in controversy, with some residents claiming that the development would be unsuitable for the area.
