Helston and St Keverne Young Farmers Club met for a barbecue and sheaf pitching evening last Thursday.
The evening took place as a thank you for all club members, who were treated to burger baps as a reward for their hard work at the ploughing match the previous weekend.
A business meeting was held announcing that around £3,500 had been raised from the ploughing match for the club's chosen charity, the Fistral Ward at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. Adam Care, club chairman, thanked all the members that helped during the day.
He then congratulated the men's football team for winning their competition in the County Sports Day held at Penair School in Truro the previous Sunday, as well as the ladies netball team who came third in their competition.
The club's Harvest and Advisory evening is taking place at St Keverne Parish Hall on Friday, October 5. On Sunday October 7, St Keverne Methodist Church's Harvest Service is taking place in the morning, followed by Burras Chapel's Harvest Service in the afternoon. Club members will be supporting both. This year's Dinner and Dance is taking place at the Green Lawns Hotel in Falmouth on Friday, October 26.
Thursday evening's activity is a visit to AP Valves, with members meeting at Helston Football Club at 7.15pm or 7.30pm there.
