Saturday heralded the end of an era with a final coffee morning at the home of the Bishop of Truro, The Right Reverend Bill Ind and his wife.

For ten years, Bishop Bill as he likes to be known and his wife have invited the RNLI to hold a coffee morning at their home in Feock, this year was the last occasion that it will be with the Inds as hosts.

Bishop Bill over the next couple of month will be celebrating his ruby wedding anniversary, 40 years as a priest of which 20 of those, have been as a bishop, initially in Lincolnshire and for the past ten years in Cornwall.

In April the Inds will retire to Melksham in Wiltshire an area where they have not worked but are surrounded by friends and their children and grandchildren in the neighbouring counties of Gloucestershire and Hampshire.

Under church rules, retiring priests and bishops cannot remain in the area where they preached previously.

Saturday's coffee morning was a resounding success with over 40 attending and £300 raised.

Clive Cliff, Chairman of the RNLI's Truro Branch who lives in Mylor said: "What better way to herald the end of an era by saving the best coffee morning until last? That has to be a fitting tribute to the Inds for all the years they have graciously invited us to hold it at their home."

The money was raised from the entrance fee which included tea or coffee, a general raffle, cake stall, Christmas cards and calendars and four of Clarice Mortensen-Fowlers's famous pasties.
