Jenny Lewis, one of the first Macmillan nurses in Cornwall, is to retire after 24 years of dedicated work.
Her outstanding contribution to Macmillan Cancer Support will be celebrated at a gathering in Truro today at the Macmillan Team's Offices, 3 St Clement Vean, Tregolls Road.
Jenny joined Macmillan in 1983 and developed a particular interest in counselling and bereavement care. She became a valued educator in bereavement theory within the Macmillan team, and chair of the Advanced Communication Skills Facilitation Group. She is based in Hayle.
Jenny has balanced her working life with raising a family, bee-keeping, gardening, and a life on the ocean waves as a keen yachtswoman, said a colleague.
Ed Murphy, Macmillan Development Manager for South West England, saod: "We shall miss Jenny's energy, and her passion for fairness and championing the underdog."
