The Electronic Waste Company, based in Redruth, Cornwall, has been recognised as the region's "most promising new business" in a prestigious national award scheme run by the British Chambers of Commerce. It is the first time a Cornish business has achieved this level of award.
The business, which was founded in July 2006 and takes unwanted, unusable or end-of-life electronic equipment and prepares it for reuse or recycling, beat off a raft of competition to clinch the award.
Damian Lambkin, Managing Director of The Electronic Waste Company said: "It's great to have brought this award to Cornwall - for a business that has only been up and running for a year it is a major vote of confidence. We are a company that enables hundreds of other businesses tackle the environmental impact of end-of-life electronic equipment. We're proud of the work we do helping businesses and helping to protect the environment too."
The Electronic Waste Company takes unwanted, unusable or end-of-life electrical equipment and prepares it for reuse or recycling. Every element of every item the firm takes is disposed of in an environmentally friendly way - nothing is sent to landfill.
Managing Director Damian Lambkin said: "We've seen a lot of growth in the business over the last 12 months and expect to see continued growth in the future. We will be investing in new machinery to help us handle new waste streams and process more of the South West's electronic waste locally, With a consequent environmental benefit."
