A Devon runner beat those from Cornwall in the Truro half marathon at the weekend but the home runners pushed hard and took many of the remaining places.

More than 570 runners took part in the popular event with Jim Cole from Tavistock coming in first in a time of 1.15.06, followed by Cornwall's Dave Buzza on 1.15.34, then the Duchy's Noel Kindon followed by Jon Keast.

The first femail home was Katherine Matthews from Mounts Bay Harriers in 1.30.22.

Runners from all over Cornwall took part not least those from Falmouth Road Runners, Truro Running Club, and the Carn Runners.

The accompanyting fun run saw all age groups turn out all enjoying themselves in the autumn sunshine.

Truro Running Club is based at Truro Rugby Club, St Clement's Hill, Truro. It has a history going back to 1998 when of local runners were preparing to do battle with 26.2 miles of London's finest roads and paving. The club soon followed and has gone from strength to strength.

Members take part in all sorts of events including The Great North Run, The London Marathon, The Morlaix half and The Jersey half marathon Falmouth Road Runners was established in 1987 and has been continuously active ever since. Members meet at the Falmouth Sports Club, Western Terrace, Falmouth, on Wednesdays at 6.45pm.

Although Wednesday is the main training evening, there are usually additional training runs on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings for those who can't get enough.
