HELSTON: ST MICHAEL'S CHURCH: As part of the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Prayer/Healing Group, Parish Communion included a service of Wholeness and Healing.
The Rector, Canon David Miller, presided, assisted by the Rev Dorothy Noakes, with Janet Jones reading the lesson and Eileen Bland leading the prayers.
In place of a sermon, Betty Booker, lay reader, who has been a member of the prayer group since its inception, described its origins and aims, also introducing three other members, Jake, Marjorie and Cherith, who gave their personal testimonies.
There followed the Laying on of Hands for members of the congregation, against a background of reflective music played by Richard Berry at the organ.
METHODIST CHURCH: Mr Chris Smith took "creation" as the theme for his service on Sunday morning.
He did several question-and-answer sessions, one with the children before they left for their own session downstairs. Nigel Dower was the organist.
The evening Allsorts traditional service with communion was led by the Reverend Andrew Hill.
LOWERTOWN: METHODIST CHURCH: Paul Benney was the worship leader and organist for Sunday's service. Paul read from Philemon and spoke of how the Christian church is facing up to accepting change.
