FLUSHING: METHODIST CHURCH: The church held their harvest family service. The chapel was decorated with fruits and flowers of harvest and the children of the Sunday school added their contribution as they paraded around the chapel to present their own baskets of harvest gifts. They started the service with the introit Lord of the harvest.

During the service they sang a modern song Water of life in which a duet was sung by Sorcha Yates and Emily Hotchkiss, who also read a harvest psalm. The younger children, having shared the first part of the service then went into the schoolroom.

The service was led by Morwenna Bennett who welcomed holidaymakers from Harrogate. In her address she spoke about the gifts given at harvest time. She congratulated Emily and Dominic Hotchkiss and their mother, Val, on the sponsored walk they had undertaken on the previous day which raised over £100 for the Historic Churches Trust and Flushing chapel.

Traditional harvest hymns were sung by the congregation accompanied by Christopher Bennett on the organ. He also accompanied the childrens' singing on the piano.

The Sunday evening service was led by The Rev Rose Westwood. The theme of the service was God receives sinners and was based on the two parables of the lost sheep and the lost coin. The hymns were accompanied on the organ by Morwenna Bennett.

Next Sunday, at 6pm the service will be led by Phil Misselbrook from Falmouth Emmanuel Baptist church.

ST PETER'S CHURCH: The Eucharist held on Sunday was celebrated by Rev Andrew Stevenson. The Gospel reading, Luke 15, vs 1-10 tells the parable of the lost sheep.

The lessons were read by Jan and Howard Hill. The organist was Sid Bryant.
