Volunteers donned rubber gloves and held bin bags aloft when they took part in a clean up in Helston during a countywide campaign.
Members of the public joined with various organisations for the litter pick at the Penrose Amenity Area, opposite Coronation Park, as part of the week-long Cornwall Litter Week.
Over the course of the morning they collected five bags of litter, as well as larger items such as car tyres and traffic cones. And proving that giving your time for free can actually be rewarded, one volunteer even found a £5 note.
Pip Richards, administrator with the Sustainable Trust, was one of the volunteers who took part. She said: "It was thoroughly enjoyed and was really good to do. So many people don't seem to have a comprehension of the damage that litter can do to wildlife. If we want to show any pride in our landscape we mustn't drop it."
She added that the Penrose Amenity Area was targeted because it was such a large area and rubbish accumulated there.
Other organisations offering their support included Keep Helston Tidy, Lizard Friends of the Earth, Plastic Bag Free Helston, Helston Town Council, The Sustainable Trust, HOGG (Helston Organic Gardeners & Growers) and Cornwall Litter Partnership.
