Farmers in the south west were anxiously awaiting the outcome of tests concerning an outbreak of blue tongue disease.
The disease was found in an animal in Suffolk. The disease is spread by midges and has been evident on the continent for some time.
This is the first case in this country and if it spreads, is expected to cause considerable problems for farmers.
The disease follows yet another case of foot and mouth in the south east and the decision to extend the exclusion zone into parts of Berkshire.
