IF you attended, or indeed missed out on the successful silver Duchy of Cornwall "Open" Badminton Championships at Carn Brea, then another feast of badminton awaits you at St Austell's Polkyth Leisure Centre, this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the annual Cornwall Senior "Closed" Championships, 2007/2008, writes John Tresidder.
There is another heartening entry - approaching 60 players, including competitors from the Cornwall Youth Badminton (CYB) Organisation.
Joanna Philp, aged 14, the talented Truro School/First Edition player, from Port Isaac and who is coached by Camborne's Clif Morcom, is looking forward to competing in her first senior tournament.
Emily James and James Whetter will be defending their "restricted" blue ribband crowns.
Programme - Friday (7 pm): Men's and ladies' singles opening rounds; Saturday (10 am-1 pm): Culmination of the two singles; Sunday (10 am): Men's and ladies' level doubles and mixed doubles.
