With construction well under way and on schedule for completion ahead of the 2008-09 academic year, all 145 apartments at Maritime, Falmouth, specially designed for students, are now being released on to the market.
Prices start at £85,000 and some 200 enquiries have already been received by agents Heather & Lay, who began the marketing drive with Maritime's recent exposure at the accommodation fair at the Tremough Campus of the Combined Universities of Cornwall.
The studio apartments will take shape in six storeys near Falmouth Docks Station, with striking features including the spacious students' "penthouse" common room. This will have over 1,500 sq feet of floor space and include vending machines, flat screen television and pool tables.
The two storey atrium entrance will be of similar size and the project will also include communal space, cycle store, motorcycle spaces, car parking spaces and access road.
"Maritime is a very exciting development which encapsulates individual studio' apartments specifically designed and equipped to provide high quality student accommodation," says Tim Heather. "Each unit will comprise living room/bedroom, entrance hall, shower room, WC, well-equipped kitchen area and individual balconies.
"The penthouse' common room and many of the students' own rooms will take advantage of views across the harbour to the sea and the town. Maritime is superbly located for ease of travel and access to local services and facilities."
It is being developed by Falmouth-based Devington Homes and is hailed as setting new standards for student accommodation. It is designed to help meet the continuing need for such accommodation in the area - with many more students adding to Cornwall's university population over the next two years.
