From post to pasta, Falmouth's former post office building could be set for a dramatic overhaul to become an Italian restaurant.
Ever since Falmouth's main post office on The Moor moved to the Poundshop outlet next door, its former premises have been left empty.
However, Italian restaurant chain Prezzo Plc has shown an interest in developing the building into what would be its first outlet in Cornwall.
Three planning applications have been submitted but are currently on hold, awaiting further information, for new signs, steps and the part change of use from post office to an outlet for the sale of food and drink, to be consumed on the premises.
The company has already been granted a license by Carrick district council, permitting them to play music indoors between noon and midnight, sell late night refreshment for consumption inside and outside between 11pm and 11.30pm and sell alcohol for consumption on the premises only, between noon and 11.30pm.
The restaurant would be open daily, between noon and midnight, with the outside area closed to the public from 11pm.
Prezzo is a restaurant chain with outlets across the country, selling food such as pizza, pasta, risotto and salads. On its website, it states: "Our stylish, contemporary designed restaurants often situated in historic buildings or buildings of local interest, provide the perfect backdrop for informal dining or a venue in which to celebrate any special occasion."
