Residents of Falmouth can sit back and relax now that 15 new benches have been bought for the town.
The historic Falmouth Town Cemetery in Pennance Road, which includes the grave of famous local artist Henry Scott Tuke, now has 15 new visitor benches, to replace the previous ones that were suffering from the effects of vandalism and wear and tear.
The replacement benches were funded by Falmouth Town Council and have been installed by the town cemetery sexton Lee Mitchell. Lee also cut and cleared a site and installed a brand new bench at the Home Guard Memorial on Pennance Point.
The benches are all substantially made and should survive the elements for a long time.
Town mayor Mike Varney said he was delighted that the town council had been able to react so quickly to requests from Falmouth residents.
He added that mourners and residents alike should visit the cemetery and use the new benches to reflect upon loved ones that have passed away or just simply enjoy the tranquil wooded setting.
