The Gorseth is to be invited to Helston in the hope that the town may be able host a Gorseth Kernow event in the future.
When the idea was first mooted at a previous meeting of Helston town council, members were concerned over the cost to the town and also the work involved.
However, at their last meeting, councillor Sue Swift told her fellow members that the business and tourism working group of the South Kerrier Alliance was "very keen" to be involved in any event and that the group had the secretarial assistance of Kerrier district council.
Councillors also heard from town clerk Chris Dawson, who told them that he had spoken to the town councils of Redruth and Penzance - which had both previously hosted the event - and found out that the disruption to the town was minimal, as was the time spent by the town's mayors and clerks.
Mr Dawson told members that they should not delay inviting the Gorseth, as a decision over where the event would be held was always made two years in advance anyway.
Councillors hoped that by inviting the Gorseth to visit Helston soon, the town might be in with a chance of hosting the event in 2010.
