Weston-super-Mare 34, Camborne 20
Camborne put in a spirited display on the road and can consider themselves a little unfortunate to return home without at least a losing bonus point to show for their efforts.
Colts captain Adam Long again came into the line-up for the Cherry and Whites whilst Luke Trewhella took over from Tommy Southworth at hooker.
‘Town’ went behind 14-0 early on before hitting back hard with a brace of blindside tries created from strong close range drives from the forwards with lock Damien Cook prominent.
Rhodri Mcatee was the first to dive over followed soon after by wing Alex Ducker. Unfortunately David Mankee could convert neither score and a corner try from the home side as the interval neared saw them 19-10 up at the break.
Early in the second period Mankee cut the deficit when he landed a penalty but Weston then bagged their bonus point try which was also converted for 26-13.
Approaching the hour mark the Cherry & Whites got back into contention when their pack drove the home forwards fully 25 metres back in an unstoppable maul that ended with flanker Jordan Rose plunging over. Mankee converted to cut the home lead to a slender six points.
In the final quarter chances came and went for the visitors before Weston put the result beyond doubt with their fifth try of the afternoon.
