A police car has been involved in a serious collision on the A30, which has left one man being airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
The three-vehicle collision involved the Ford Focus police car, a motorcycle and a red Rover 220. They collided this morning on the A30 near Cockwells, Penzance.
The casualty, the motorcylist, was airlifted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro with injuries described by police as "serious." The police officer went to the West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance with whiplash.
The police car was not on a call when the collision occurred, just after 9.40am.
The A30 has been closed westbound at St Erth and police have said diversion routes have become clogged with traffic.
