Many people have marched from Falmouth to Camborne in protest at proposals to end the county's 24-hour full-time fire cover.
The service is under threat because of cuts to the council budget, which means the fire service may soon have to rely on a retained service at night and Falmouth and Camborne stations reduced to daytime cover only.
The protesters walked 13 miles from Falmouth to Camborne.
In a statement Cornwall county council said it regretted having to look at alternative ways of providing fire cover because of budget pressures.
A report is due to go before the authority soon.
