Students at Truro College have been celebrating their completion of the Certificate in Personnel Practice. The certificates were presented by Alison Williams, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's (CIPD) Branch Professional Development Adviser.
Two students Kathleen Johnson and Davina Yates have been nominated for CIPD student of the year awards, which will be announced at a Gala evening in Plymouth on November 9. This year a total of 22 students successfully completed the course, studying on an afternoon and evening release basis from their employers.
The central purpose of the Certificate in Personnel Practice is to develop competence in a range of core personnel and development skills, together with the necessary underpinning knowledge and understanding. The course is intended to provide a practical understanding of managing and working effectively with people. It has been running successfully at the college for the past twelve years.
Course tutor, Hilary Bryant said: "The group has worked very hard during the year and produced a standard of work which the External Moderator considered to be exemplary. Several of the group are moving on to study the University of Plymouth's Human Resources Diploma."
