The Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro is inviting would-be artists of all ages to have a go at a wide range of drawing activities on Saturday 13 October as part of the national Big Draw Campaign.

Cartoonist Nick Brennan, who has worked for the Beano, Dandy, the BBC and a variety of publishing houses, will be one of the artists involved. Visitors will have an opportunity to talk to him about his work and try their own hand at cartoon drawing.

Gill Turner, is exhibiting of paintings at the museum from 22nd September to 9th November, will lead an activity based on creating her unique type of urban landscape and Simon Roff will lead a wheel rubbing activity. The children's Art Club, which art teacher Dan Phillips runs every Saturday morning at the museum, will work on a piece of communal art that visitors can also contribute to during the afternoon.

At 3pm, Nick Brennan will present prizes to the winners of the summer's treasure chest competition. Children were invited to make their own treasure boxes based on what they had seen at the museum. All the boxes will be on display in a special exhibition from 20 October to 3 November.

The Big Draw takes place nation-wide during October, with the majority of activities taking place on Saturday October 13. The event encourages participants of all ages to help expand the definitions and uses of drawing - experimenting with pencils, crayons, charcoal, sand, clay, digital imagery, choreographed movement, vapour trails and fire drawings.

The Royal Cornwall Museum's Big Draw starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm. Entry is free. For more information, ring 01872 272205.
