Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage was assaulted in St Austell on Sunday.

A teenage woman was walking home along Polkyth Road at around 2am when she was attacked.

The incident occurred opposite the junction to Eliot Road St Austell when a man jumped from a car and pulled at her trousers.

She struck out at him and he ran off.

The suspect police are looking for is described as a white man, in his mid twenties, with very short blond hair and is of medium build.

He was wearing a short sleeved white shirt with a white tank top underneath and jeans.

He was a passenger in the rear seat of a dark coloured hatchback car, which was occupied by four men in total.

The car was seen to be driving up and down the same streets perhaps in a loop and drove down Carlyon road at least three times.
