The memory and work of a Helston pastor's popular late wife have lived on through the sale of a CD of her singing.
Caroline Townley, wife of Helston Light and Life Free Methodist Church pastor John Townley, died from cancer in March this year.
Caroline, who was also a receptionist at the Meneage Street Surgery, was famed for her beautiful voice, which was captured on tape when she was aged just 17.
The songs were played during a service in her memory, which saw the junior school hall at St Michael's School overflowing with friends, family and former colleagues.
Following the service, so many people clamoured to get copies of the music that the decision was made to digitally re-master the tape and put it onto CD for sale, with the proceeds going to the Caroline Townley Memorial Fund that will be used to help fund a community building for use by the church, as well as schools and the wider community. A DVD has also been created of images and video footage of Caroline, as well as a website where people can hear the songs and leave their memories.
Her husband, Pastor John, said he felt it was important to capture and preserve such a "powerful gift" for generations to come.
Pastor John said: "When we produced the CD of Caroline singing and a website sharing her story, I anticipated people who knew her through attending the Meneage Street Doctor Surgery or St Michael's School being interested in knowing more about this courageous lady who went through much pain, but never lost her smile. I could never have imagined that her story and singing would impact the lives of so many strangers."
He added that he has already been "amazed" at the number of people from around the world who had never known Caroline but had visited the website and bought CDs.
One such lady was Linda from Yorkshire, who bought the CD and DVD and described them as "a pleasure to hear and see."
She said: "It is so difficult to sum up in few words what Caroline Townley, a lady I have never met, means to me, other than to simply say visit her website. Be inspired by her story of courage and unfaltering faith. Seek your own truths and answers via the informative and thought-provoking pages, but most of all hear Caroline's wonderful voice and feel the sense of hope and peace it instils. Caroline's voice, and the message her songs carry, should be heard en masse. Beautiful."
Others have described the website as a comforting, peaceful and inspirational place to be.
The CD has a collection of Caroline's favourite songs and is available from Rebecca Lugg on 01326 562434 or from the Caroline Townley website www.carolinetownley.co.uk for £9.99.
