A petition of more than 2,000 signatures is being handed over tomorrow in protest at the proposed cuts to 24-hour fire cover in Camborne.
Signatures have been collected by the four Mebyon Kernow Camborne town councillors, as well as by Kerrier district councillor Loveday Jenkin. Each signature has been written on a separate letter.
The forms will be handed over to the Fire Brigade Union at Camborne fire station tomorrow afternoon. They will then be added to the petitions collected by the union itself, as well as those by other groups, ahead of next Tuesday's full meeting of Cornwall county council, when the proposed cuts for Camborne and Falmouth will be discussed.
Councillor Stuart Cullimore, a town and district councillor, said he knew of a large number of people who planned to attend the meeting waving banners in protest at the proposals to remove night-time fire cover at the two stations.
