PORTHLEVEN: APOSTOLIC CHURCH: The speaker at the morning service on Sunday was Sarah Chaplin. She spoke on the freedom that truth brings - that we should love, digest, speak and believe the truth.
"If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" - John 8 v 32. At the evening service Pastor Glen Chaplin continued this theme and spoke about honesty. He encouraged honesty in prayer, in fellowship, in Bible study and in actions.
The 2007 Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning held at the church on Friday was very well supported and raised £315 for Macmillan.
Events at the church this week: On Tuesday evenings at 7pm the meetings on Evangelism continue; October 2 the meeting will not take place as Prayer Experience will take place at the church between 7am and 9am and between 7pm and 9pm; Thursday mornings the Jolly Tots, parents and toddlers group, meets between 10am and 12 noon - a great meeting place for parents of children from 0 to 3 years; Friday at 5.30pm until 6.30pm the Rock Solid Kids' Club meets, this club is for children aged 5 to 11 years and offers crafts, stories, games, competitions, DVD's and songs to help the children learn Christian values; Friday at 5.45pm the Discovery Group (for new Christians) meets. On Sunday, October 7 at 10.45am, the speaker at the morning service will be Eunice Thomas (crèche facility); At 6pm on October 7 the first meeting of the Alpha Course will take place. The meetings, which are open to all ages, are intended for anyone wanting to discuss key issues of the Christian faith and will continue each Sunday evening for eight weeks.
