BURRAS: BURHOS METHODIST CHAPEL: The morning service was conducted by Mr Tom Richardson. The offering was taken up by Verity Bray and Rebecca Care. The organist was Mrs Janet Hearn. Happy birthday greetings went to Lucy Bray. Harvest festival services are taking place this Sunday, October 7. There will be a family service at 11am, when Mrs Shirley Wearne will be the preacher. At 2.30pm, there will be another service with Mrs Myrtle Care as preacher and Helston and St Keverne Young Farmers taking part. All are welcome.
EDGCUMBE: EDGCUMBE METHODIST CHAPEL: The harvest festival service was conducted by Mrs Carbis from Truro, the organist was Mrs G Collins, readings were by Mr R Evans, Mrs M Ferris, and the offering was taken by Mr R Evans. The harvest supper and sale of produce raised approximately £580 for chapel funds. We would like to thank everyone for all their help on Monday morning and evening, also Mr G Hearne for auctioning all the produce. Everyone is welcome. We are wheelchair-friendly.
stithians METHODIST CHURCH: Harvest Festival is being celebrated on Sunday. Preaching at the morning service, 10.45am is Mrs Val Sterling, a talented and popular preacher from St Mawgan. As well as being a harvest service, this will also be all-age worship. Another talented preacher, the Rev Rose Westwood, chaplain to the Combined University of Cornwall, is leading the evening service at 6pm. The harvest celebrations continue on Monday with a harvest supper in the chapel schoolroom at 7pm. Everyone welcome.
Morning worship on Sunday was led by Debbie Goldsworthy. The organist was Colin Anthony. In the evening, the congregation attended a Harvest Songs of Praise at Lanner Methodist Church.
PORKELLIS: TRINITY METHODIST CHURCH: The Rev Geoffrey Thorpe took the service on Sunday. The children helped by dramatising the Gospel reading. The theme was "to treat everyone fairly". The children all had a reward at the end.
Several visitors were welcomed into the congregation. Elizabeth played the organ and Rachel provided the flowers for the table.
On Wednesday the ladies fellowship are holding a quiz.
CHYNHALE: CHAPEL: The Sunday morning service was conducted by Mrs Elaine Harris from Goldsithney. The new testament lesson was read by Crete Pooley and a reading was given by Hazel Angove. The vestry steward was Tracie Haslam and the organist was Shirley Mildren. Michael Lawrance welcome people to the service.
On Friday evening over 20 members of the social club met at 7.15pm when members of the Sunday club put questions to the older people about church life. Quintin Dale also showed a video of past church activities. This was followed by supper and a raffle. The evening was much enjoyed by all who were present.
TREWENNACK: METHODIST CHURCH: Sunday Morning Family Service was conducted by Sarah Campbell, with the theme of "Harvest against the odds", focussing on the work of the Methodist Relief and Development Fund.
MRDF works with many people who struggle to have a good harvest and tries to make small miracles possible. Prayers were led by Peter, Tom and Jonathan and the children demonstrated how MRDF had helped the harvest for a family in El Salvador.
Lucy Phillips read about the Feast of Tabernacles from Deuteronomy and Jo Rapson read how Jesus healed the ten lepers as told in Luke's gospel. Val Thorne was the pianist and the Worship Group led the singing before and during the service. Fellowship continued with tea and coffee in the hall afterwards.
