THE Cornwall Food and Drink Festival in Truro has been praised as a fantastic success with the number of people visiting the event well up on last year.
Over 60 food and drink producers exhibited on Lemon Quay over the weekend with a wide variety of products on offer from the length and breadth of the county.
Sunday was especially busy with numbers far higher than last year.
Angie Coombs, from Taste of the West, one of the organisers, said that many people had a look around on the Saturday and then came back to buy on the Sunday.
"What is important is that this is not just about shopping," she said. "We are trying to have a bit of a message about why local food is important for Cornwall."
Over the three days there was a top line-up of Cornish chefs, including favourites Kevin Viner, Ben Tunnicliffe and Nathan Outlaw doing cookery demonstrations, which were all packed.
The range of Cornish produce on show included luxury ice-cream, Cornish meats, pickles and chocolates.
A new event this year was the special Brunch Challenge on the Sunday morning, organised by the Women's Food and Farming Union.
This new event took the form of a challenge to some of the young Scouts in Cornwall to cook a special meal with the assistance of chefs from the renowned Fifteen Cornwall restaurant at Watergate Bay.
The Hall for Cornwall hosted some special wine and cheese tastings at its Stars Restaurant on Friday and Saturday afternoons with wine and cheese experts.
