Camborne 12pts
Barnstaple 32pts
CAMBORNE suffered a fourth successive heavy league defeat despite holding an eight point lead at the half hour mark.
There were already worrying signs at this point when their young pack that had started well had lost back row men Andrew Lancaster and David Eustace to injury.
Things had started well for the Cherry and Whites with a David Mankee penalty from the first home attack followed by an eighth minute catch and drive try from a lineout touched down by hooker Andrew Smith.
Lancaster sustained a 20th minute back injury as he was challenged making a clean lineout catch and soon after Eustace's reward for a superb turnover deep in Clevedon territory was a nasty cut head.
Disrupted "Town" held out for a while before conceding a devastating four tries in the 10 minutes remaining in the half. Centre Rory Biggins converted three of the scores to put the visitors 8-26 up at the interval.
After nearly conceding again almost from the restart Camborne tried to claw their way back and got closer when fly half Mankee landed a long range 52nd minute penalty as the Clevedon openside made his way to the sin bin.
Crucially the home side failed to capitalise on the 10 minutes numerical advantage with two good try scoring opportunities going begging.
Midway through the half a fifth Clevedon try wide on the left well converted by Biggins put the visitors out of sight at 11-33.
In the closing stages the scoreboard was made to look worse for the Cherry and Whites when centre Ashley Vailes twice burst clean through to touchdown tries with Biggins converting the latter to complete the scoring.
