AN annual Cornish football cup competition has presented the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust with a cheque for £500.
The Durning-Lawrence Charity Cup was given to the Cornwall FA to organise the competition in 1905. Sixteen teams are invited to compete for the trophy which was won last season by St Blazey after a penalty shoot out.
The Air Ambulance was chosen as the recipient of the latest donation by Cornwall FA for the wor that they do on behalf of the sport.
Mavis Gilbert, from the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, said: "The costs of keeping the air ambulance going are always increasing, so we are very happy to accept this donation from Cornwall FA. We know that many footballers in the county have benefited from being airlifted to hospital when they have, unfortunately, suffered a serious injury during a match."
The air ambulance which is based at St Mawgan Airport, is commemorating its 20th year in operation.
