IF not for all the right reasons, Redruth will certainly remember their visit to Grantchester Road for their national League II clash with Cambridge.
The match, abandoned at half time, was already out of the Reds' reach and it brought an end to a week that the club will quickly want to forget.
In a bad week for the Reds, Nathan Pascoe, who made the number six shirt his own last season with a series of impressive delays, broke his ankle in an accident at training on Thursday.
With PJ Gidlow failing a Saturday morning fitness test on a groin injury Simon Peters got a welcome chance to start in midfield.
During the 40 minutes played Redruth ran into an in-form Cambridge side who showed clinical finishing touches running in four first half tries to rack up a 30 point lead to take full advantage of a strong breeze on a sunny day.
The Reds now sink to second bottom of the league with only Nuneaton who they beat on the opening weekend of the season below them.
The Reds were soon eight points down, full back Luke Fielden kicking a penalty from wide out on the left in the second minute and powerful left wing Chris Lombaard following a powerful driving maul by a giant home pack in the 13th minute.
Fielden took over the kicking for Cambridge as former Wales A international Gareth Cull had his appendix removed in an emergency operation in mid week Redruth started to come into the game but Lombaard read play when the Reds attacked the blind side on the half way line and intercepted to race away unopposed to touchdown in the 16th minute.
Neil Corin, who started in the second row in place of the injured vice captain Damien Cook, took a heavy blow to the leg and limped off after 16 minutes to be replaced by the promising teenager Ben Fox who made his league debut.
There were chances for the Reds who enjoyed a good spell of pressure. Mark Richards was stopped just short of the line by a good tackle from Fielden and another break by Richards ended with Lewis Vinnicombe tackled into touch near the corner flag.
Fielden added a try in the 31st minute and converted Lombaard's hat-trick try on the stroke of half time following a devastating break in the centre of the field by James Shanahan.
On Saturday the Reds are home to Blackheath.
