St Just 10pts
Stithians 57pts
STITHIANS enjoyed a superb victory at Tregaseal when they defeated St Just 57-10 in Cornwall One.
The home side took the lead following a five metre scrum when scrum-half James Maddern dived over, Simon Barnes converting.
Stithians replied within two minutes when wing Ben Waters made a strong run to score an unconverted try.
St Just increased their lead midway through the half with a Simon Barnes penalty, but with their back row of Ben Keay, Martin Strick and Robin Cookson to the fore, Stithians now looked sharp and when the ball was spun wide to wing Greg White to score an unconverted corner try the the half time score was level at ten points each.
Stithians started the second period full of action which had their hosts on the rack with seven tries being scored through Lewis Vague 2, Johnny Oliver 2, Craig Pledger 2 and a fine solo effort by Michael Creeden.
Martin Strick converted five and Ben Waters one - which crowned a fine display of running rugby and a sound team performance by this very young side.
Stithians - Tries: Lewis Vague, Johnny Oliver and Craig Pledger 2; Ben Waters, Greg White and Michael Creeden. Conversions: Martin Strick, 5; Ben Waters.
St Just - Try: James Maddern; conversion: Simon Barnes; penalty: Simon Barnes.
