Helston u13s 2

Trevenson u13s 2

A THRILLING clash of counter attacking football saw Helston and Trevenson United earn a deserved draw.

Trevenson were out of the blocks first, attacking down the Helston left, playing through balls into the quick strikers.

The game became a midfield battle where Jake Chambers and Adam George fought hard to contain the Trevenson forward play.

As the half progressed, Helston began to get their wingers into action with both Bradley Curtis and Jamie Payne providing good ammunition for the Helston strikers, but Trevenson defence held firm. Then as a home score looked on the cards, a long ball saw Pete Crowther harshly adjudged to have pushed a striker as he was about to shoot in the box. The resultant penalty was poorly struck, but evaded Dan Coleman, to make it 1-0 to the visitors.

Almost immediately, Helston attacked down their left and Bradley Curtis sent James Hawkins free and he outstripped his marker to fire under the 'keeper to level.

Helston continued to push Trevenson back as the half came to an end without testing the 'keeper further.

In the second half, Helston changed it round after losing their left back, Ryan Bosustow, to injury. Jakub Chambers was becoming more influential in the game, driving the team forward and exploiting the space in front of their back four, but needed to be on his toes as Trevenson continued to stretch the Helston rear guard.

Again, as Helston began getting on top, another break away left the home keeper exposed and Trevenson retook the lead. But as before, Helston waited until they went behind before playing their best football.

Jamie Payne was sent clear down the left and his cross eluded the two strikers but Matt Rosewarne closed in at the far post to tuck the ball away.

Helston continued to battle and James Hawkins nearly sealed the points as the ball cannoned off him and narrowly wide as he bravely chased the 'keeper down on an attempted clearance.

In the end a fair result and Helston remain unbeaten.

Next week the boys travel to the league leaders' Hayle.
