Organisers have declared themselves "over the moon" after a raffle and auction held by Helston's Once a Year Club raised an impressive £5,000 for children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
Helston Football Club was packed out for the event and auctioneer Ronnie Williams attracted plenty of bids for the 57 lots.
Among the most popular items were four paintings by Porthleven artist David Hosking, which raised more than £1,500, a bicycle donated by Graham Pascoe that raised over £200 and a variety of sporting accessories including rugby balls and a shirt signed by England internationals.
No lot was too small, however, with Mr Williams even managing to generate the amazing sum of £130 by auctioning off a bag of cherry tomatoes twice.
A raffle featuring an array of prizes donated by businesses in Helston and Porthleven was drawn by Karen and Jim Iball.
The auction and raffle together raised £4,659 - a sum which was promptly made up to £5,000 by Bert Jewell, a founder member of the Once a Year Club, who took part in the very first bike ride 19 years ago and has been involved ever since.
This year's bike ride, held in July, was also remembered on Sunday when participant Sam Autie was presented with his Rider of the Year award.
Sam earned the accolade after a series of problems with his bike forced him to run from Carleen to the ride's finishing point at the football club.
Having completed the London Marathon in aid of CLIC Sargent earlier this year, he also sold scores of raffle tickets in advance of Sunday's event.
Organiser Karen Anderton, from the Once a Year Club, said: "I was absolutely over the moon with this year's response. A generous and enthusiastic audience, a big team of helpers and, not least, all those who donated something have all helped raise a great sum of money.
"A huge thanks to all involved, especially Ronnie, David Hosking and all the local businesses for their generosity once again."
Proceeds from this year's fundraising will be presented to CLIC Sargent later in the year, but it is hoped the overall total for 2006 of £10,500 will be beaten.
The 2007 total has also been boosted by the Lion and Lamb pub in Ashton, which raised more than £2,700 for CLIC at its harvest auction.
Thoughts are now turning to next year's Once a Year Club events, which will be marking their 20th anniversary.
Plans are already in hand to make it a special year, with ideas being considered including reuniting the original handful of people who started the whole thing off.
