HELSTON u9s 11 NEWQUAY YOUTH u9 0
NEWQUAY travelled down to Helston and came up against a Helston u9 side that were in no mood for a quiet Sunday.
The game kicked off at 11 o'clock and by five past Helston were two nil up with goals from Ben Turner and Ross Leathley.
The midfield of Ben, Ross and Dan were too strong for the Newquay boys as they contested and won every ball and then moved on to support Dominic Hannaford in attack. Hannaford's persistence paid off as he scored twice to make it 4 -0 at half time.
In the second half George Wake and James Williams in the Helston defence were never in any trouble as they worked hard together and kept the Newquay forwards at Bay.
Both Wake and Williams ventured forward to support the midfield with occasional shots on goal and at one point it looked like there were six forwards on the pitch.
The subs came on and the shape returned but the mood didn't change. Jordan Willey and Will Smith played well protecting Ross Atkinson's goal. He only had to make two saves all game and never looked in any trouble.
The goals came flooding in as Helston pushed forward in waves. Their passing was swift and neat as they scored again and again. The Turner twins along with Leathley and Hannaford were unstoppable as they scored seven more times between them, with three players scoring hat tricks.
Scorers: B Turner (3), R Leathley (3), D Hannaford (3) and D Turner (2).
Squad: R Atkinson, G Wake, J Williams, B Turner, R Leathley, D Turner, D Hannaford, J Willey, W Smith.
