A CHEQUE for £3000 has been presented to Cancer Research UK by members of the club and family members of Sharon Wood.
Sharon was a founder member of Wendron Youth Football who sadly died in 1999 and to whom the tournament is dedicated.
Samantha Williams, Cornwall fundraiser for Cancer Research UK, was delighted to receive the cheque and praised those at Wendron who volunteered their time to raise this huge amount for this worthwhile cause.
She said: "Without support like this from this fantastic mini-soccer tournament, Cancer Research UK's work would not be possible as we rely overwhelmingly on donations from the public."
The tournament, with teams from all parts of Cornwall and Devon is held annually in July and was yet again a huge success despite the appalling weather on the day. Sam also presented a plaque to Graham Wood showing that a total of over £19,000 has been raised for CRUK since the tournament began in 2000.
The club wishes to thank all those who helped make it possible and they look forward to seeing them all again next year.
