ST JUST 4 MULLION 1
MULLION probably won't shed any tears about going out of the Westinsure Cornwall Senior Cup at the first attempt, but at half-time they must have thought they were in with a real chance after leading 1-0.
The visitors competed well throughout the first half, but under pressure in the second period they were unable to sustain the work rate and were eventually outgunned.
It didn't look that way in the 12th minute when Mullion took the lead from a corner. Andy Ashton knocked over the cross and Chris Rosevear's header was partially halted by Matt Harris but ended up in the net despite a fruitless attempt by goalkeeper Andrew Curnow to stop it going in.
New signing Steve Capeling began to make his presence felt in the second half and when Rob Rosevear parried one of his efforts, Shane Richards pounced to drill in the equaliser.
Neil Curnow put the home side in front after 59 minutes and six minutes later St Just extended their lead when Tom Dann gave Rosevear no chance when he slammed the ball into the net from close range.
Mullion gave a debut to 16-year-old Lee Cattran and he could feel pleased with his performance in the heart of the defence with Dave Phillips as St Just exerted second half pressure.
The Tinners completed the scoring when Richie Ward crossed for John Bird to score.
Mullion: R Rosevear, S Whear, S Toy, D Phillips, L Cattran, B Tremain, C Rosevear, A Wood, A Ashton, J Leech, D Hill. Sub: R Matthews.
