TRURO police are seeking the views of the public to help identify three top issues which are affecting their community.

Sergeant Chris Manuell and Sergeant Miles Topham who hope to tackle crime and other issues within the community which annoy people in different neighbourhoods around the city.

A postcard scheme has been launched in an attempt to get residents to write down their three top priorities and return them to Truro Police Station or put them in special boxes being placed in local shops, post offices and banks.

The scheme is currently being implemented across the county and has already worked well in Newquay, where Sgt Topham was based before coming to Truro.

Sgt Topham said: "The police want to work with the community on this. We have an idea of what the top priorities are but they may be different to what the public think, that is why we need this feedback to address the issues.

"The issues do not necessarily have to be crime related. If we are told that one of the biggest issues is about highways, we can get the ball rolling with our partners to get things sorted out."

Sgt Manuell is responsible for overseeing policing in the more rural areas surrounding Truro while Sgt Topham is responsible for the city centre and both plan to hold community surgeries in the city to help address issues raised by the public.

Residents wishing to take part in the scheme should write down their top three issues which they feel need addressing in Truro, including their name and address and send it to Truro Police Station, Tregolls Road, Truro, TR1 1PY or email at truro@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk
