Residents and staff at Kenwyn are proud to boast that they have equalled the 1111 miles completed by Barchester Healthcare Director Bill Wilson on his Coast 2 Coast Challenge cycle ride.
The Kenwyn total was kick started by the four staff who cycled to Launceston, and then completed by a combination of circuits around the garden (5= 1 mile) and individual staff efforts in gyms, homes and on the roads around Truro. Efforts were boosted by a day of garden circuits on Saturday 15th when staff and visitors assisted residents to make circuits on foot and in wheelchairs.
Mr Mike Tonkin, a resident of Kenwyn for several years, completed a total of 50 miles in total in his electric wheelchair over a period of four weeks. He did this with no assistance from anybody, and was an inspiration to all. Many residents and staff were sponsored for the event which, together with the Harvest Festival Auction, raised £655 which the Coast 2 Coast appeal will share equally between the Alzheimer's Disease Association, and The Barchester Foundation.
