Care provided for kidney patients at the county's main unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro and it's satellite units at West Cornwall Hospital and Bodmin Hospital will be celebrated at the annual service to recognise their work and the lives of the units' patients.

The Service takes place on Saturday, October 13 at 2pm at St Mary's Church in Truro. It will be taken by Rev Mark Dunn-Wilson and the organist will be Philip Davey. Members of the choir from St Mary's Church will also be taking part.

There are currently around 180 patients receiving dialysis at units across the county, more than 30 more dialysing at home, and hundreds of others receiving care and treatment for kidney conditions. The numbers of patients needing care for renal problems is constantly rising and last year the renal unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital was expanded in response to the increasing need for more dialysis stations. Each year around 20 patients from Cornwall go on to have successful kidney transplants The Service is also a time to remember those have who have sadly passed away in recent years and relatives and friends of past renal patients are very welcome to attend.

Refreshments will be available after the Service. Staff from the Renal Unit will also be available for anyone wishing to have a chat. For more details contact Cynthia Dawson or Maggie Burns on the Renal Unit on 01872 252888.
