FIVE members of the Penryn WI have celebrated five big birthdays with a party at their weekly meeting.
The five ladies all had big birthdays this year between March and September with three of them celebrating their 75th birthdays, one her 65th and another her 55th.
The "five fives" as they have labelled themselves are Val Burleigh, 75, Betty Luckock, 75, Betty Osborne, 75, Margaret Williams, 65 and Val Bidgood, 55.
All of the women have been members of the Penryn WI for a number of years ranging from 12 to 40 years.
On Wednesday the birthday girls gathered at their weekly meeting at the Welfare Hall in West Street, Penryn and enjoyed a glass of bubbly and a slice of cake to mark the occasion.
Betty Osborne said: "It is quite unusual that we are all celebrating these big birthdays in the same year. There must have been something in the water."
Val Bidgood added: "We don't need much of an excuse to have a party and we thought this was a great excuse."
The group are always looking for new members and boast a varied programme of events and have said that any new faces will be made to feel very welcome.
The Penryn WI meets every Wednesday 2pm to 4pm at the Welfare Hall in West Street.
