A talented teenager from Porthleven, Claire-Louise Auguste aged 15 is taking the leading role with Redruth Amateur Musical and Pantomime Society for the second year running.
Claire-Louise is no stranger to the Regal stage having performed in all RAMP's shows since the age of eight as a dancer with the Bev Lyn School of Dancing. More recently she's played a singing servant in My Fair Lady' and last year, Jack Trott in Jack and the Beanstalk. Having climbed her beanstalk last year playing Jack, this year Claire-Louise will be flying to great heights on a magic carpet as Aladdin in RAMP's annual magical family pantomime at The Regal Theatre, Redruth from January 16 - 20, 2008.
When Claire-Louise is not singing, acting or dancing she is likely to be playing one of her many instruments. Earlier this year she achieved the prestigious Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Performance Diploma on her flute and piccolo, a highly commendable achievement at such a young age. Over the past eighteen months she has had some great experiences; recording with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, recording the new Blue Peter theme tune, playing at The Royal Albert Hall, winning a scholarship to an International flute summer school and on her last trip to London she rushed back from the BBC to return in time for the first rehearsal of Aladdin. When asking Claire-Louise how she fits it all in she said, "I love it, to perform to an audience is totally awesome. I have great teachers, fantastic friends and a terrific family who all support what I do. I desperately want to study performing arts specialising in music and musical theatre, as I love every minute of it".
Claire-Louise is especially pleased to be playing the part of Aladdin, as Princess Jasmine, is being played by her life-long friend and dancing companion Bethany Jolly. Bethany has also done exceptionally well this year achieving 8A*, 1 A and 1B in her recent GCSE results.
The cast of this dazzling show comprises of many familiar faces, Father Peter Fellows will certainly make his presence heard as the conniving Abanazar, Margaret Dawes elaborately serving her master as Slave of the Ring, Jolly Hargreaves will be showing off his powers as the Genie of the Lamp, Andy Christophers is practising on those high heels again as Widow Twankey, Matt Eva as Wishee Washee, Cathrine Jolly as Notsoshy, Jon Eva as the Emperor, not forgetting the law enforcement of Rachel Newman as Sergeant Chop with her team of PC Suey's, Reg D'Souza, Donna Fisk, Andrew Horigan, Shaun Hosking, Adele Peters-Float and Farren Smith.
Under the Direction of Paul Blaber, Aladdin promises to take you on a traditional journey with fantastic music under the baton of Chris Hutton, toe -tapping choreography by Beverly Matthews and Melissa Glover, fabulous dance routines from the Bev Lyn School of Dancing and stunning costumes to complete this magical pantomime to entertain the whole family.
