We are pleased to announce the winner of the Packet Town Pub of the Year award.
Our readers chose The Front on Falmouth's Custom House Quay, citing its friendly staff and efficient service amongst other things.
Voting has opened for this month's category: Pub With a View. See the end of this article for information on how to cast your vote.
Here's what our reviewer Marco Ferrari had to say about The Front:
"Nestled behind Harbour Lights on Custom House Quay, The Front is a cosy boozer that oozes character. It is a place where tales of adventures on the high seas seem to be etched into the fabric of the furniture.
"Venture through its understated entrance and you will find a fine selection of ales behind the bar, leading on to a dancefloor area populated by open mic-ers, folk dancers or quiz participants depending on the night of the week; and a pile of well-worn board games in a dark corner perfectly suited for wallflowers.
"It is one for the townsfolk and beer experts alike. Whilst some of our readers' nominations mention the warm welcome and efficient service from bar staff, the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has granted The Front no fewer than five CAMRA Pub of the Year awards in both the Cornwall and South West categories.
"And it has to be said - the beer is excellent. Their Sharp's Special is consistently the best pint I have ever drunk.
"Some patrons will always go for an old favourite at the bar, while other drinkers will be more adventurous with their orders. The lineup of samples in jam jars on the bar is a nice touch if you're not entirely sure whether the new micro-brewed ale you just ordered is going to arrive as an IPA or a stout.
"The Front stocks offerings from Sharps, Treen's, Skinner's and Tintagel to name a few, as well as a smaller selection of ciders. They don't sell food, but are happy for you to bring your own.
"Like all good pubs, The Front is dog-friendly and you will see plenty of the canine companions accompanying the regulars on any given day."
