An elderly man was airlifted from a beach near Falmouth after falling on a cliff on Sunday.
Emergency services were called out just before 6pm, to a casualty above an area known locally as Arthurs Beach, where they found an 84-year-old man stuck in a hard-to-reach location.
First to the scene, coastguards quickly navigated the fisherman’s paths down to the beach and found the injured man who had fallen 10 feet and was suffering from back pain.
After initial assessment of his condition, it was thought that an airlift would be the best option and so the Coastguard Rescue 924 helicopter was asked to attend the site near Maenporth.
The crew were then joined by the Falmouth Lifeboat team who helped to stabilise the injured man and secure him to a stretcher.
They then lowered him down onto the beach below using specialist rope rescue equipment, where he could more easily be transferred onto an aircraft stretcher.
From there he was lifted to Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske.
The man has been wished a swift recovery by the emergency services.
