LABOUR'S parliamentary candidate for Camborne and Redruth has reacted to his party's manifesto.

The manifesto was announced on Thursday and Paul Farmer said:

"In this election Labour is offering Cornwall the chance of transformed lives through a vision of a future worthy of the name, an end to Austerity and the wasted years. We will quickly ease the pain of Brexit and bring our people together.

"Labour’s manifesto offers a vision of a different kind of future, a hopeful, sustainable and people-focused future that is based on a fully costed plan. A future that depends on us engaging with the climate emergency, properly funding our public services, ending food bank Britain and homelessness, and rewriting the rules of the economy to work for everyone, not just the billionaires.

"It’s time to change a system where a food bank in Camborne needs to give out 700 meals to desperate people in the space of 49 minutes; a Cornwall where 92 per cent of its schools will be underfunded next year; and a Cornwall where, at the current annual building rate of just 47 houses for social rent, it will take 385 years to house the 18,126 people who are currently on the waiting list.

"Only Labour will provide an alternative future for Cornwall with genuinely affordable homes and long-term green jobs, and where food banks are consigned to the shameful Conservative past. I want to build that fairer country that cares for all, where wealth and power are equally shared.

"Let us transform Cornwall. Let us begin that green industrial revolution. Let us rebuild our public services and let us bring an end to the poverty and inequality that has blighted our county.

"This is a two-horse race: only a vote for Labour can bring change in Camborne, Redruth & Hayle. It’s time for real change. It’s time for Labour and real change."

The General Election takes place on December 12.
