Camborne 17, Brixham 18
Camborne’s run of defeats continued as they went down to a narrow home reverse when the Fishermen snatched a vital win with a last gasp penalty.
The visitors dominated the opening half playing down the Recreation Ground slope and although they squandered a good number of scoring opportunities turned around 8-0 in front.
Brixham took the lead early in the opening half courtesy of a regulation penalty and still inside the first quarter the visiting forwards went through the phases until eventually driving over for an unconverted try.
Early in the second half Brixham made it a commanding lead when their left wing squeezed over at the corner flag for a well converted score.
Camborne now trailing by 15 points went up a gear and hit back with a superb try finished by wing Rob Gurnett who showed his strength to touchdown near the posts with David Mankee adding the extras.
On the hour the Cherry & Whites cut the deficit to a solitary point when outstanding young flanker Jordan Nicholls gave a delightful offload to send centre Harvey Bell romping over. Fly half Mankee duly booted the conversion.
Inside the last ten minutes the home side edged in front with a Mankee penalty but the visitors took the spoils with a monster penalty with the final kick of the game.
