A former church in Falmouth could be converted into housing.
Cornwall Council has been asked for advice by Conrad Paul over the possible conversion of the United Reformed Church in Berkeley Vale into between two and nine flats.
Planning officer Laura Potts said there was scope in principle, but Mr Paul would need to justify the loss of the church building and provide a "sensitive conversion" that retains the significance and character of the building.
Designs would have be carefully looked at to avoid overlooking neighbouring properties and Ms Potts believed parking in the front of the building would have a negative impact.
Cornwall councillor for the area Jayne Kirkham has already indicated her disappointment at the loss of a community facility and would encourage that a community use was found for at least part of the building, added Ms Potts.
She recommended Mr Paul apply for further pre-application advice, following a heritage impact assessment, before submitting any planning application.
